Find and equip

Defeat the lion inside Fort Gael in Caelid. Apply the Ash of War at a Site of Grace with the Whetstone Knife, or ask a smith. Greatsword is compatible; Bloodhound’s Fang and other fixed-skill Somber weapons are not.

Use after the chain

Hyperarmor helps the attack complete through some hits, but you still take damage. Use it after a long recovery and keep enough stamina to escape. It is not an ordinary jump attack and does not receive Claw Talisman’s jump bonus.

Heavy is a useful match for Colossal Knight. Other affinities depend on whetblades and compatibility; an Ash’s default affinity is not the only possible selection.
