The actual entry requirements
Own Shadow of the Erdtree and defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood in the base game. Approach Miquella’s cocoon in Mohgwyn Palace to enter the Realm of Shadow. Mohg, the Omen in the sewers is not the required boss.
A finished base-game build is helpful, but Rune Level alone does not reproduce the expansion’s progression. Bring upgraded weapons, a medium roll and enough Vigor for mistakes.
Spend fragments, not just runes
Scadutree Fragments increase your Scadutree Blessing when used at a Site of Grace. That blessing supports your damage and damage negation in the Realm of Shadow. Revered Spirit Ashes improve the corresponding blessing for summoned spirits and Torrent.
The blessings are independent and their benefits apply in the expansion area. They do not boost your character’s damage after returning to Limgrave. This guide avoids quoting a fixed damage multiplier chart that could drift with balance changes.
An opening exploration route
Collect the Gravesite Plain map and investigate the nearby ruins and crosses. The Church of Consolation in the southeast has Scadutree Fragments. Activate the blessing before forcing repeated attempts at major bosses.
Explore side paths and check your map; Rellana is not the only route to Scadu Altus. If the castle becomes a wall, return to exploration instead of assuming more Dexterity is the only solution.
Move into the DLC build
Milady and Wing Stance are separate Castle Ensis pickups. Keep your base-game weapon until you find and upgrade the new one. Ensis Wanderer uses no Tarnished Pack equipment, although the current official patch also adds content from that separate pack.
Later exploration and blessing upgrades remain part of progress toward Shadow Keep and Messmer. This launch catalogue is a focused set of routes and encounters, not a complete fragment checklist or DLC completion guide.
